How do I place an order on MakhiMarket?

To place an order: 1) Browse products and add items to your cart, 2) Click the cart icon and review your items, 3) Click "Checkout", 4) Enter your shipping address and contact details, 5) Select payment method and complete payment, 6) You'll receive an order confirmation email.

Do I need an account to place an order?

Yes, you need to create a free MakhiMarket account to place orders. This allows you to track your orders, save addresses, view order history, and receive personalized recommendations.

Can I order from multiple vendors in one checkout?

Yes! You can add products from multiple vendors to your cart and checkout once. However, note that each vendor will ship separately, so you may receive multiple packages and pay separate shipping fees for each vendor.

How do I cancel or modify my order?

Orders can only be canceled or modified before the vendor starts processing them (usually within 1-2 hours). Contact the vendor immediately via your order confirmation email or through their store page. Once shipped, you'll need to follow the return process instead.

What is the minimum order value?

There is no platform-wide minimum order value. However, individual vendors may set their own minimum order amounts (typically R50-R100). Check the vendor's store policy or product pages for specific requirements.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does delivery take?

Delivery times vary by vendor and location. For Pretoria: Standard delivery is 2-5 business days, Express is 1-2 days, Same-day is 4-6 hours (selected vendors). Outside Pretoria: 3-7 business days via courier. Check the vendor's shipping policy for exact timeframes.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs are set by individual vendors and vary by distance, weight, and delivery speed. Typical costs: Pretoria (R30-R100), Gauteng (R80-R150), Nationwide (R100-R400). Many vendors offer free delivery on orders above R250-R500.

Can I track my order?

Yes! Log in to your account and go to "Order History" to track your orders. You'll also receive tracking numbers via email when your order ships (if the vendor provides tracking). Some local deliveries may not have tracking.

What if my delivery is delayed or lost?

First, check your tracking information and wait for the estimated delivery date to pass. If significantly delayed (5+ days), contact the vendor directly. For lost packages marked as delivered, report to the vendor within 48 hours with your order number.

Do you deliver outside Pretoria?

Yes! Many vendors deliver nationwide across South Africa via courier services. Delivery to areas outside Pretoria may take longer (3-7 days) and cost more (R80-R400). International shipping is not currently available.

Payments

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept: Credit/Debit cards (Visa, Mastercard), Instant EFT, PayFast, PayPal, and SnapScan. All payments are processed securely through PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways. Cash on delivery may be available from selected vendors.

Is it safe to enter my card details?

Absolutely! All payment information is encrypted using SSL/TLS and processed by secure, PCI-DSS compliant payment processors (PayFast, PayPal). MakhiMarket never stores your full card details on our servers.

When will my payment be charged?

Your payment is charged immediately when you complete checkout. For card payments, funds are authorized instantly. For EFT, payment clears within 1-2 hours. Vendors receive funds after a hold period (3-7 days) as outlined in our Terms & Conditions.

Can I get an invoice or receipt?

Yes! You'll receive an order confirmation email immediately after purchase, which serves as your receipt. For VAT invoices, log in to your account, go to "Order History", and download the invoice for any order. Invoices are generated automatically for all purchases.

What if my payment fails?

Payment failures can occur due to insufficient funds, incorrect card details, or bank security blocks. Try again with a different payment method or card. If the problem persists, contact your bank to authorize the transaction, or contact our support team for assistance.

Returns & Refunds

What is your return policy?

Returns are handled directly between you and the vendor. Each vendor sets their own return policy (typically 7-30 days). To return an item, contact the vendor who sold it using the contact details in your order confirmation. See our full Return Policy for details.

How do I request a refund?

Contact the vendor directly to request a refund. Provide your order number, reason for return, and photos if the item is defective. If the vendor approves, they will process the refund to your original payment method within 5-14 business days.

Can I return a product if I changed my mind?

It depends on the vendor's policy. Some vendors accept change-of-mind returns within their return period, while others only accept returns for defective items. Always check the vendor's return policy before purchasing. Note that perishable items and opened hygiene products typically cannot be returned.

Who pays for return shipping?

For defective or incorrect items, vendors typically cover return shipping. For change-of-mind returns, you usually pay return shipping costs. Some vendors may charge restocking fees (10-25%). Check with the specific vendor for their return shipping policy.

What are my rights under South African law?

Under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), you have the right to return defective, unsafe, or misrepresented products within 6 months. For direct marketing purchases, you have a 5-day cooling-off period. These rights cannot be waived. Contact us if a vendor refuses a legitimate CPA claim.

Account & Privacy

How do I create an account?

Click "Register" or "Create Account" in the top menu. Fill in your email, name, phone number, and create a password. You must accept our Terms & Conditions to register. Verify your email address via the link sent to your inbox to activate your account.

I forgot my password. What do I do?

Click "Forgot Password" on the login page. Enter your email address and we'll send you a password reset link. Click the link and create a new password. If you don't receive the email within 10 minutes, check your spam folder or contact support.

How is my personal information used?

We collect your information to process orders, communicate with you, improve our services, and (with your consent) send marketing. We share necessary information with vendors to fulfill orders. See our Privacy Policy for full details. We comply with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act).

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Go to "My Account" > "Settings" > "Delete Account" or email privacy@makhimarket.co.za. We'll delete your account and personal data within 30 days, except for transaction records we're legally required to keep (5 years for tax purposes).

How do I stop receiving marketing emails?

Click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any marketing email, or log in and go to "My Account" > "Communication Preferences" to manage your email settings. You'll still receive essential order updates and account notifications.

Vendors & Sellers

How do I become a vendor on MakhiMarket?

Click "Become a Vendor" in the footer or visit our Vendor Registration page. Create a vendor account, provide your business details, bank account, and tax information. Once approved (2-3 business days), you can start listing products and selling on MakhiMarket.

Are vendors verified?

Yes, all vendors go through a basic verification process before being approved. We verify business details and contact information. However, MakhiMarket is a marketplace platform - vendors are independent businesses and we don't guarantee their products or services.

What if I have a problem with a vendor?

First, try to resolve the issue directly with the vendor. If unsuccessful, contact MakhiMarket support at support@makhimarket.co.za with your order details and issue description. We'll mediate between you and the vendor to find a resolution.

Can I leave reviews for vendors?

Yes! After receiving your order, you can leave a review and rating for the product and vendor. Reviews help other customers make informed decisions and encourage vendors to maintain high quality standards. Be honest and fair in your reviews.

What fees do vendors pay?

Vendors pay a commission on each sale (typically 10-15%) plus payment processing fees (2-5%). There may also be subscription fees for premium vendor features. These fees help us maintain and improve the platform. See our Vendor Agreement for full fee details.
